Why did you move to Torbole sul Garda?
I moved to Lake Garda because I started working with the Segnana Watersports Center. In the winter I used to work as a ski-instructor and in the summer I always did nautical work. Since 2001 I moved to Torbole all year round.
When did you start windsurfing?
Since I was six years old.
When was your first kite-session?
It was 12 years ago.
For how many years have you been the director of the Segnana Watersports Center in Torbole?
For 8 years. From year 2005 to 2013.
Why did you decided to put your focus only on the Segnana Kitesurf-School?
I could no longer handle both - windsurfing and kite. And I chose to grow the business of kite. Marco Segnana and I decided that I take more response of the kite school, furthermore we have seen and realized the steady rise of demand.
Is Kite Segnana always have been part of the Segnana Watersports Group?
The Kite Segnana is part of the Segnana group but it is still a different company.
Is it easier or harder to kite at the Lake than the Sea?
At the Lake it is easier to learn because with the assistance of the boats you go directly to the water where it is deep. The course is therefore more cost effective over the three days and the clients will learn more things than the same courses carried to the sea because it goes directly to practice. Also with the assistance of the boats the student feels much safer.
Can you describe your usual day, please?
The day at the Kite-School begins at 7 am when we divide the groups into various boats. With the wind from the north, we stay in the water until 11 am. After the first course we come back and have a break. From 1 pm to 5 pm we do the afternoon course with the south wind. In the end we prepare the materials for the next day or sometimes in the evening we are having theorie lessons on land.
How many hours a day are you in charge of the Segnana Kite-School?
At least 8 hours.
What do you like about your job?
All! I like to be in contact with people and I love to teach how to kite.
Is there also something you don't like about your job?
Seriously – NO! Right now I like it all.
Your biggest satisfaction your job is giving you?
Teaching. Seeing the client after a few hours of lesson that he or she becomes the feelings of power, strength and plan.
What do you like about the Lake Garda?
The legendary Garda wind. The Peler and the Ora.
What do you like about Torbole?
A small cozy village that has everything for tourism and it offers a lot for various sports activities.
The best place to eat in Torbole?
How many years are you planing to be „on board“ of the the Segnana Kite-School?
At least another 10 years.
How many courses do you do during a season?
Last year we did 1000 courses.
And how many lifts?
If a client wants to go out without a lift from Torbole?
It is not possible, because the regulations from the province forbid the autonomous exit from the beaches of Trentino. So it is compulsory to take the lift either with us or with other associations. Otherwise you can go to the two kite clubs that are in Navene in Veneto or Campione in Lombardy.
How is the coexistence between kite and windsurf in Torbole?
It's good because the kite must be outside the border with Trentino. While windsurfers are more concentrated in the Trentino area.
Do kites have to comply with Garda rules?
They must observe the water space that is limited by the races, not entering the race field. But above all they have to stay outside the Trentino border in the hours when it is forbidden to pass it: From 10:00 to 17:00.
The best spot at the Lake to do Kitesurf?
At Cape Reamol. It is the spot that guarantees the most constant wind.
Why would you kite at the Lake Garda?
Just for the constancy of the wind and because you are constantly assisted.
